Health Career Education

We are a center for health education that lives its leadership commitments through participation in and sponsorship of professional, allied health and community health education programs.

We offer three separate training programs for those interested in nursing. The Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing is a one-year, daytime program for those who would like to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). The Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing is registered by the New York State Education Department, and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. As one of only three hospital-based practical nursing programs in the entire state of New York, students are assured that the education and clinical training they receive is first-rate. One strength of our program is that students earn college credit as well as gain invaluable clinical experience. All our instructors have Master of Science degrees in Nursing, and have many years of nursing experience in various settings. Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing Public Notice.

Founded in 2008, the Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers a full-time college experience that is flexible and conducive to adult learners and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This hospital-based Associate Degree (two-year) program is open to all applicants interested in pursuing a career as a registered nurse (RN) and it is the first College of Nursing in the area to offer classes focused on adult learners who can benefit from an evening and weekend class schedule.  LPNs interested in becoming RNs are also welcome to apply at the College of Nursing. Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing/Keuka College's 1+2+1 Dual Degree program provides students the chance to experience the best of both worlds. Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing, located on the campus of Geneva General Hospital, is renowned for its hands-on, clinical-based education.  Keuka College is a top-notch private, liberal-arts college with a history of nursing education dating back to World War II.  As a nursing student, you’ll take courses on both campuses, taught by professors from both institutions. Don’t worry about travel or registration though—we’ve made the process entirely seamless for you.

Even though you’ll attend classes at two different institutions, you’ll have the option of living on Keuka College’s campus with more than 1,000 other students. You can participate in athletics, join extracurricular activities, and much more.

At the end of your third year, you’ll graduate with an A.A.S. from Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN—the exam that qualifies you for licensure as a registered nurse. At the end of your senior year, you’ll earn a bachelor’s degree from Keuka College. No other nursing program provides this level of flexibility, academic rigor, and hands-on experience.
