The Speech Pathology Department at Finger Lakes Health evaluates and treats patients of all ages with speech, swallowing or vocal communication disorders. Available at Geneva General Hospital, Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital and at Huntington Living Center, licensed speech-language pathologists provide the following services:

  • Swallowing evaluation and treatment 
  • Modified barium swallow studies , used to determine the cause of painful swallowing, difficulty with swallowing, abdominal pain, bloodstained vomit, or unexplained weight loss.
  • Evaluations in speech, language, cognition, and voice 
  • Speech/language therapy 
  • Lee Silverman Voice Treatment - for patients with Parkinson's Disease
  • Specialized services for patients who have undergone treatment for head and neck cancer

Our licensed speech-language pathologists work with internal medicine physicians and otolaryngolgists (Ear, Nose & Throat physicians) to evaluate, create a treatment plan and implement it for each individual patient. Our staff has a depth of experience treating people with a variety of diagnoses and we have many pieces of equipment to assist the therapists in achieving the goals that you and they jointly set. We have therapists with unique certifications in these areas.
