Calling all golfers and sponsors! Register now for the fourth annual Finger Lakes Health Foundation ‘108 Holes for Hearts’ virtual golf tournament!

Introduced in 2021, this unique event allows participating players to golf when and where they want with the simple goal of completing 108 holes (six rounds of 18 or 12 9-hole rounds) anytime from June 15-September 15.

New this year: Individual players can sign up for just a $10 donation. Each player will receive a golf cart or bag tag which can be displayed during each round they play. Once scores are submitted for the 108 holes, the players will qualify for a prize drawing.

Also, golf courses can sign up to “host” the 3-month virtual tournament and encourage their members/golfers to take the challenge on with a special $100 donation.

Tournament Sponsor levels range from $25 to $5000. Details and registration information can be found on the event ‘108 Holes for Hearts.’

The virtual golf tournament replaced the traditional, 20+ year-old in person one-day tournament during the pandemic and is a key fundraiser for Finger Lakes Health’s cardiology services, equipment and patient financial aid.

Proceeds from the tournament will support the purchase of a new CT scanner with enhanced cardiac scanning capability at Geneva General Hospital and a new, state of the art imaging suite with new digital X-ray equipment at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. In addition, it will help cardiology patients who are struggling with payments receive the care they need.

Heart disease accounts for one in three deaths in the US. In the Finger Lakes region, deaths from cardiovascular disease are 13% greater than ALL cancer deaths. Lack of access to cardiac care and availability of diagnostic imaging are significant barriers for the prevention of heart disease for patients in our area.

Finger Lakes Health offers local, world-class, comprehensive cardiology care, including non-invasive diagnostics, treatment and education, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Patients receive individualized assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and treatment. Care is provided by board-certified cardiologist, Jonathan Rodriguez, M.D., FACC, Rachel Miller, DNP, FNP-BC, Pamela Hobart, ANP-BC, RNFA, and Yvonne Jolly, ANP-BC of Geneva General Cardiology Associates, at two locations – Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan. Finger Lakes Health provides services to all in our community who need it, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.

“All of us know someone, whether a family member, colleague or neighbor, who has suffered from a heart-related disease. The ‘108 Holes for Hearts’ tournament lets golfers of all abilities from all across the region and beyond contribute to increasing access to cardiac care by raising money for Finger Lakes Health’s much-needed cardiology services,” says Mary Sue Dehn, Director of Development for Finger Lakes Health Foundation. “We are so grateful to the players and the sponsors who have supported this unique idea in the past and are excited to host the event again this year. The virtual nature of the tournament means almost all of the money raised goes directly to the Foundation, rather than to overhead or logistics.”
