Gastroenterologist Khiem D. Nguyen, M.D., has recently joined UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health. Dr. Nguyen will be practicing at Finger Lakes Gastroenterology, joining the team of Dr. Angel Diaz, Dr. Henry LeGuyader, Dr. Anjanet Perez-Colon, Dr. Christopher Walker, Staci Hooker, FNP-C, Brandee Burley PA-C and Kristin Verrette PA-C. He is an active medical staff member at Geneva General and Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospitals.
Dr. Nguyen completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He did his residency in Internal Medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA. His internship in General Surgery was at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, NY.
He attended medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA as well as Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Hebert Edwards School of Medicine in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Nguyen concluded his military career with the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Most recently, he practiced at St. Lucie Medical Center in St. Lucie, FL.

With over 20 years of Gastroenterology experience, Dr. Nguyen specializes in therapeutic endoscopies, notably Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), a procedure that combines upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and x-rays to treat problems of the bile and pancreatic ducts.
Dr. Nguyen lives in with his wife, Mary Lyn Pla Dillems. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and outdoor activities.
