The Finger Lakes Health Foundation received a $50,000 donation from the Bonafiglia Family to support the efforts of Finger Lakes Health hospitals and professionals on the front line of the Coronavirus pandemic.
This gift comes on the heels of generous in-kind donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Finger Lakes Health, made over the past few weeks from the Bonafiglia family-owned BonaDent Dental Laboratories. The donated equipment included several types of masks and gloves that came from the company’s inventory as well as items collected from several dentist offices in the region. In addition, BonaDent donated 175 face shields, designed and manufactured with their 3D printers.
In a letter accompanying the $50,000 gift, Bruce Bonafiglia, President of BonaDent wrote, “We understand that this is a time of great uncertainty and challenge for many, and we also recognize that this pandemic has put a tremendous strain on our healthcare system. Our hope is that this donation helps support Finger Lakes Health’s mission of safeguarding our community’s health and well-being, especially during this time of need.”
Daniele Bonafiglia-Wirth, Bruce’s daughter and Vice President of BonaDent said in a recent email, “Finger Lakes Health plays such an important role in our local community, and we want to be able to support your efforts in whatever ways we can, both through this financial support as well as through continued donations of PPE.”
Lara Turbide, Vice President, Community Services & Executive Director, Finger Lakes Health Foundation expresses gratitude for the generous donation saying, “The Bonafiglia family has long been known for investing in our Finger Lakes communities. We are deeply grateful for their support. We will put these funds to good use in our mission of maintaining and improving the health of our communities. These are extraordinary times. The need for equipment, supplies and support for our hospital is unprecedented. We are truly heartened by the Bonafiglia family's kindness and generosity. This gift truly reflects their family’s amazing spirit and values. This vital support will help Finger Lakes Health to keep all our families, friends, and neighbors safe and healthy during this global pandemic.”
Finger Lakes Health continues to have an urgent need for financial support to purchase medical equipment and supplies and to supplement the considerable loss of income due to cancellations and postponements of elective and non-urgent procedures to free up staff and beds to battle the Coronavirus.
