Finger Lakes Health held its annual Employee Recognition dinner during Hospital and Nursing Home Weeks in May, honoring employees for more than 2,400 years of service to the community and thanking them for their contributions and dedication to the ongoing success of the health system.

The recognition honored 28 employees, with more than 790 years of service, who retired in the last year. Eleven employees received the Morton Orlov, M.D. Education Award for completing a degree program within the past 12 months. This award is in recognition of personal commitment to education through use of the health system’s Education Assistance Programs.

Members of the Administrative Team presented service awards to employees celebrating milestone years of service.

Two special awards were presented to employees who consistently exceeded the requirements of their jobs in the workplace: the James J. Dooley Leadership Excellence Award and the Employee of the Year.

The James J. Dooley Leadership Excellence Award recognizes outstanding performance by a leader who is committed to Finger Lakes Health’s mission, values and the healing environment, as well as the leader’s overall job performance and leadership skills. This year, Maureen Loyal, DPT, Director of Rehabilitation Services, was awarded the honor. Maureen was selected based on her commitment to Finger Lakes Health’s mission, vision and values, as well as her overall job performance and leadership skills. Since her arrival three and half years ago, Maureen has played an important part in expanding services and improving access to care. She and her team have developed new community programs, built new partnerships and expanded relationships with local providers, school districts and area colleges. She was recently honored at the 2019 Healthcare Achievement Awards by the Rochester Business Journal.

The Employee of the Year for 2018 was presented to Liz Loycano, physical therapist at Geneva General Hospital. Customer service skills are one of Liz’s greatest strengths. She is truly valued for the exceptional service she provides to her patients. She is someone who is always willing to lend an empathetic ear and a caring touch. She puts forth a tremendous amount of care and effort each and every day to make sure the needs of her patients are met and to create a truly exceptional experience. In addition, she was instrumental in developing a women’s pelvic health program at Finger Lakes Health.

Loycano was selected from among the outstanding field of 12 Employees of the Quarter who were recognized each quarter in 2018. The program recognizes those employees who consistently demonstrate organizational values and whose performance clearly exceeds the requirements of their positions.
