Health Career Education
We are a center for health education that lives its leadership commitments through participation in and sponsorship of professional, allied health and community health education programs.
We offer three separate training programs for those interested in nursing. The Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing is a one-year, daytime program for those who would like to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). The Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing is registered by the New York State Education Department, and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. As one of only three hospital-based practical nursing programs in the entire state of New York, students are assured that the education and clinical training they receive is first-rate. One strength of our program is that students earn college credit as well as gain invaluable clinical experience. All our instructors have Master of Science degrees in Nursing, and have many years of nursing experience in various settings. Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing Public Notice.
Founded in 2008, the Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers a full-time college experience that is flexible and conducive to adult learners and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This hospital-based Associate Degree (two-year) program is open to all applicants interested in pursuing a career as a registered nurse (RN) and it is the first College of Nursing in the area to offer classes focused on adult learners who can benefit from an evening and weekend class schedule. LPNs interested in becoming RNs are also welcome to apply at the College of Nursing. Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences Public Notice.
