About Me
Dr. Akoto is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon with the UR Medicine Department of Orthopaedics and Physical Performance and is board-eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He performs a broad spectrum of diverse and complex orthopaedic spinal surgical procedures including laminectomy, discectomy, fusion, motion-sparing surgery, and deformity correction throughout the entire spine. Dr. Akoto joined UR Medicine after completing his Louis A. Goldstein Spine Surgery Fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Michigan Hospitals in Ann Arbor, MI. He earned his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC.
