GENEVA –   The Sons of Italy Lodge in Geneva hosts the first “Rock for Kidneys” event, a benefit for Geneva General Hospital’s Dialysis Center, on Saturday, January 11, 2025 starting at 4 p.m.

Tickets are just $10 and include a ziti dinner and an evening of live music featuring Tenth Avenue and Rockin’ Boots.  Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the event for a chance to win a variety of prizes.

Seneca Falls’s Michael Rossetti is a musician who makes up half of the acoustic duo “Tenth Avenue.” He first planned the event almost 5 years ago to honor his father, a former Dialysis Center patient, but had to postpone due to Covid restrictions.  He never let go of the idea and finally was able to reschedule the event this year.

“When we found out my dad needed dialysis, we thought the only option was to travel to Rochester for treatment,” says Mike, “Thankfully, Geneva General’s Dialysis Center is so close. It was a lot easier for him to get the care he needed, and for us, his support system.  My entire family is grateful and we want to give back to make sure that care stays here, locally, for other patients and their families.”

Dialysis is needed when a patient’s kidneys are failing and can no longer remove waste, salt and extra water to prevent them from building up in the body.  Dialysis is an infusion therapy which can take up to 4 hours per treatment, 3 times a week. It can keep a patient with kidney failure alive while awaiting a transplant or in lieu of one.

“Geneva General Hospital Dialysis Center provides thousands of treatments a year to our patients,” says Melissa Sanford, Director of the Dialysis Center.  “We are thankful to Mike for supporting the Dialysis Center with this family-friendly event, and for helping Finger Lakes Health continue to make this life-saving treatment available close by for our family and friends who may need it.”

The Dialysis Center is located behind Geneva General Hospital adjacent to the Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing and Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences and offers outpatient treatment options both in the morning and afternoon.

Finger Lakes Health provides services to all in our community who need it, regardless of ability to pay.
