(Geneva, NY) Local bands Rockin’ Boots, Rossi Acoustix and the Dapper Rats will bring the tunes, and Sons & Daughters of Italy’s resident chef Peter Gillotte will supply the meatballs and sauce at this year’s Rock for Kidneys, Saturday, April 25.  The open-to-all event benefits the Dialysis Center at Geneva General Hospital.

The first Rock for Kidneys last year raised $3500.00 and was the brainchild of musician Michael Rossetti of Seneca Falls. He organized the event in gratitude for the care his father received at the Dialysis Center.  “It meant so much to him and to me to be able to be able to have that care nearby, instead of having to travel to Rochester or farther,” says Rossetti. “The team there took such good care of him.”

Rosetti’s band returns with a new name, Rossi Acoustix, and will open for Rockin’ Boots, also making a return appearance. The Dapper Rats will get the evening kicked off.

Tickets are just $10 and include the pasta and meatball dinner.  There will also be a basket drawing and 50/50.

“Rock for Kidneys has become such a wonderful way for the community to come together to support the Dialysis Center’s patients, their caregivers and staff,” says Mary Sue Dehn, Director of Development at Finger Lakes Health Foundation.  “We could not be more grateful to the all the musicians and to the Sons & Daughters of Italy for giving of their time and talents.”

Finger Lakes Health’s Dialysis Center on the campus of Geneva General Hospital sees about 60 patients with end-stage renal disease (ESKD) each year.  Patients spend several hours multiple times a week for treatment at the Center. More than 808,000 people in the United States are living with ESKD, also known as end-stage renal disease (ESRD), with 68% on dialysis and 32% with a kidney transplant. Approximately 2 in 1,000 Americans are living with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD)

Despite the prevalence of kidney disease in the United States, as many as 9 in 10 adults who have chronic kidney disease are not aware they have it.
