The staff at the Joint Center is comprised of experienced, board-certified orthopedic surgeons and dedicated operating room, nursing, and therapy staff who are highly trained in caring for the joint replacement patient.
At the Joint Center of the Finger Lakes, you’ll take an active role in your care and recovery. Prior to surgery, individuals will attend a mandatory pre-operative class at Geneva General Hospital. We invite coaches, a family member or friend, to attend the class and participate in every step of the process to help ease the transition to home.
As part of your education, you will receive a Patient Guidebook that contains valuable information about joint replacement, your hospital stay, and your recovery. We’ve included: pre-operative exercises to help strengthen muscle groups prior to surgery and activities you can do to prepare yourself and surroundings for your recovery phase; a detailed guide to educate you on what you can expect during your hospital stay; and post operative mobility guides and exercises to help ensure a safe and strong recovery.
After surgery, you can expect to spend 2 – 3 days at the Joint Center. During your stay, you will attend group therapy sessions that promote camaraderie and have been proven to improve patient outcomes. You’ll follow your walking progress on our nautical-themed ambulation board, and be supported by caring staff that seamlessly integrate nursing and physical therapy care plans. After discharge, our staff will contact you to answer any questions you may have, conduct a post-operative survey, and be invited to attend one of our patient reunions that help us gather feedback for continuous program improvement and thank you for choosing our services for your joint care.
