Orthopedic Center Offers Arthritis Course
GENEVA – The Orthopedic Center of the Finger Lakes at Geneva General Hospital (GGH), in partnership with the Upstate New York Arthritis Foundation, is offering a “Taking Control of Arthritis” course free of charge.

The course is a strong educational program presented in one session per week for three weeks. Topics include information about diet and exercise, medications, problem solving, communication with health professionals and pain management. Each session lasts two hours and is taught by trained instructors who have personal experience with arthritis. Classes are open to people with arthritis, their significant other and family members.

“We at Finger Lakes Health are excited to be joining forces with the Arthritis Foundation and are pleased to offer such a distinguished program in our local community,” noted April Miles, hospital navigator for the Orthopedic Center of the Finger Lakes.

Participants must attend all three class sessions, which are slated for:
Thursday, September 16 from 10 a.m. to noon
Thursday, September 23 from 10 a.m. to noon and
Thursday, September 30 from 10 a.m. to noon
In Conference Room C on the Basement Level of GGH

Arthritis is one of many conditions that the Orthopedic Center of the Finger Lakes treats. Others are osteoporosis, bone fractures or emergencies, elbow, wrist or hand pain, shoulder pain or trauma, foot or ankle pain, knee pain or injury, hip pain or trauma, spine pain and sports injuries. The Orthopedic Center integrates all Finger Lakes Health’s bone and joint services. It brings together a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, nursing and support staff, to create a solution for the patient.
